Album

Out of the Storm is the fourth studio album by Scottish musician Jack Bruce. It was Bruce's first solo effort in over three years and was recorded and released in 1974, following the dissolution of the power trio West, Bruce and Laing. Originally Bruce had wanted to title the album Into The Storm but, according to Bruce, we couldn't find any stormy weather. We gave up and instead we found a little wood. Jack Bruce. Out of the Storm. Out Of The Storm is Jack Bruce yet again taking a different path. No one can accuse this man of being redundant as he leaves behind the hard rock of Whatever Turns You On from his 1973 work with West, Bruce & Laing and takes on Steely Dan with a track like Keep On Wondering. The problem with West, Bruce & Laing is that they should have been the back-up band providing Jack Bruce the vehicle to express his artistry. Songs in album Jack Bruce - Out Of The Storm 1974. The album abounds with molten, subtly syncopated grooves and bracing lead guitar work the latter courtesy of Detroit axeman Steve Hunter. One is a particular standout thanks to Bruces soulful vocals and Hunters Spanish guitar embellishments. Pete Browns lyrics have a darkly intimate quality, adding to Out of the Storm's overall impact. I'm going to make it by myself There has to be a time and place to say it I'm going to stand up on my own, If there's a pace then I'm the one to stay it I hear the voices from the sea, They say the world's the place for me I've got to leave my. old disguises I'm leaving my home, simple land I'm handing myself a helping hand Heading into the storm. The album represented Jacks return to his solo career after the West, Bruce & Laing rock trio had reached its conclusion. It was produced by Bruce and Andy Johns, who had overseen WBLs Why Dontcha set of 1972. Johns was a go-to studio man for many of the rock powerhouses of the day, notably as engineer for both Led Zeppelin on 73s Houses Of The Holy and with the Rolling Stones across several albums: his work on Its Only Rock n Roll was unveiled almost simultaneously with Bruces album. Out Of The Storm saw Jack join his former Cream bandmate Er. Released 2003. Out of the Storm Tracklist. Golden Days Lyrics. Out of the Storm Q&A. More Jack Bruce albums. Silver Rails.
