The Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music Hungarian: Liszt Ferenc Zeneművészeti Egyetem, often abbreviated as Zeneakadémia, Liszt Academy is a music university and a concert hall in Budapest, Hungary, founded on November 14, 1875. It is home to the Liszt Collection, which features several valuable books and manuscripts donated by Franz Liszt upon his death, and the AVISO studio, a collaboration between the governments of Hungary and Japan to provide sound recording equipment and training for students. Miklós Perényi was born into a musical family in 1948. He studied under Ede Banda at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, before graduating. Schubert: Piano Trios. Miklós Perényi. Franz Liszt. 26 January 2009. András Schiff. Terms of Use. Miklós Perényi makes the listener re-think how a cello should sound. Perényi has been a cello teacher at the Liszt Academy in Budapest since his 20s, and since 1980 has been head of the department, thus the direct heir to David Popper, who founded the Academy's cello department in the 1870's at the instigation of Liszt himself. I am told Perényi teaches in the same room where Popper taught. Perenyi's bow control and uniformity of tone were phenomenal. Miklós Perényi Cello András Schiff Piano. Warner Classics 2564693870.
