Dear all, after the double LP 'The Loningisa Years 1956-1961', released in 2017, Planet Ilunga continues to explore the monumental oeuvre of Congo's most legendary band O. Planet Ilunga proudly presents this new 2LP album 'La Rumba de mi Vida'. This compilation displays the full extent to which O. Jazz and in particular its bandleader Franco explored Congolese rumba in the sixties and early seventies. Each of the four sides on the double LP presents a different of O. Almost all of the 23 titles on this compilation have not been re-released pr. Title: The Loningisa Years 1956-1961. Artist: O. Label: Planet Ilunga. Format: 2 LP. After the two earlier releases on Planet Ilunga, focusing on the orchestras African Jazz and Rock-a-Mambo, it makes perfect sense that a third album should explore the treasures of that other major school of popular Congolese music. With this new compilation Planet Ilunga goes back to the very early days of O. Jazz, founded in 1956 in Léopoldville and disbanded in 1993. During the late fifties O. Jazz was the home of outstanding musicians such as Franco, Vicky, De La Lune, Edo Nganga, Dessoin, Kouka Celestin, Isaac, Brazzos, Mujos and many others. The Jazz Messengers is a 1956 album by the Jazz Messengers, released by Columbia Records. It was the last recording by the Jazz Messengers lineup featuring pianist Horace Silver. In 1968 Columbia reissued the LP in their Jazz Odyssey Series with a new cover under the title Art Blakey with the Original Jazz Messengers. In 1997 the album was digitally remastered and released on CD, again with its original title and cover, featuring all the tracks from the original LP along with five additional tracks
