Released September 22, 2017. Stranger in the Alps Tracklist. Smoke Signals Lyrics. Using this line as the title of the album seems to be Bridgers way of lightening the mood of a record that is otherwise lyrically very sad and heavy. She went on to explain the album title: The title was really striking to me. Ive never been to the Alps but Im obsessed with winter, nature, forests. Its really ironic that I live in urban sprawl but it makes me appreciate it a lot more I think. Interestingly, Phoebe recorded all the vocals on the album while in the dark. Its so atmospheric, so we were experimenting a lot. Album 2017 11 Songs. Stranger in the Alps Phoebe Bridgers. Confessional folk rock marked by anger and fragility. The debut long-player from the Los Angeles-based singersongwriter, Stranger in the Alps is a candid, wry, death-obsessed, and altogether transfixing collection of ruminative indie-folk confections that invoke names like Elliott Smith, Jenny Lewis, Laura Marling, Julien Baker, and Lisa Germano. Phoebe Bridgers career has been propelled by fellow musicians. Ryan Adams, Conor Oberst, and Julien Baker have all sung the praises of the 23-year-old Los Angeles singer-songwriter, leading up to her full-length debut Stranger in the Alps. Stranger in the Alps is a collection of songs about intimacy, documenting how our relationships affect the way we view ourselves and interact with others. The crux of Bridgers writing arrives in small details: a casual exchange of words, a song played on a long car ride, the moments we relive in our heads once we get back home. i dont often give albums a 9 but this is a fantastic album, complete with incredibly affecting lyrics and beautiful melodies. thank youi dont often give albums a 9 but this is a fantastic album, complete with incredibly affecting lyrics and beautiful melodies. thank you phoebe. this is truly a gift

Why is 'Georgia' different between cd and vinyl? On cd's version there is no acoustic guitar and the singing is slightly different. it's a pity. Prefer vinyl's version with guitar!
  • Hidden Winter
I finally picked this up. I'm very glad I read the Discogs (and other site reviews) and stuck to the black pressing for this record. It's a record with nuance and quiet passages..which demands a proper pressing rendition. It sounds sublime!
  • zzzachibis
My copy of this pressing has the B side label on both sides. The A side, has the correct tracks, just the wrong label. Has anyone else found this with theirs?
  • Doomblade
you have a possibly very rare misprint, hold on to it!
  • Jogrnd
I just got a copy and mine was fine. I suggest you exchange it.
  • Blueshaper
Laughing at all the people paying over $100 for the colored variant when it obviously has issues and doesn't sound as good as the black vinyl. I guess the kids playing it on Crosleys don't care
  • Olelifan
I seem to have ended with a blue colored vinyl that I can't seem to find anything about anywhere? Anybody have any info on it? I bought it from the Boygenius tour if that helps.
  • Sennnel
The Black vinyl is nice and quiet. coloured vinyl sux, so stay away from it always if you have a choice.
  • Fenrikree
Anyone else's CD copy missing You Missed My Heart (the Mark Kozelek cover)?
  • Kardana
can anyone who owns this pressing comment on how it sounds? I got the purple variant & it's plagued by surface noise. Really ruins the listening experience since theres so many quiet passages. Wondering if it's worth getting this variant instead or if i'll just be running into the same problems.
  • Vikus
Sorry this is so late... I have this variant and it has a ton of surface noise on Smoke Signals and Killer. It's really unfortunate.
  • Faugami
I have the black variant and there's a fair amount of crackling as well, sounds pretty good when not crackling though.
  • Lightbinder
To me it sounds pretty good. Some surface noise on the last track of both sides, but does not detract from the music.
