Unique single from The Who. This version of Substitute has alternate lyrics. "I look all white but my dad was black" is replaced by "I try walking forward but my feet walk back". The same change of lyrics happened with the US version, but the US version has no second verse and chorus, reducing its running time to 2 minute 59 seconds. The unique thing about the South African pressing is that the South African pressing has alternate lyrics AND the second verse and chorus, giving it the original running time of 3 minute 45 seconds. Pressed in small quantities.
Are you sure the run time is really 3:45 and that's not just what it says on the label? I just got in a single with the same cat # (from Rhodesia entry, FM7217) it says 3:45 on the label but is actually the 'short version' closer to just 3:00 long, with the different lyrics used for the USA single.
